About Me and Horizon Therapy
About Me: Welcome
My name is Debbie and I came to counselling later in life. I couldn’t have done it before as I had my share of trauma and life difficulties to work through and this has added to life experiences and enriched my depth of empathetic understanding. I am passionate about supporting mental health and believe in the benefits of talking therapies. My approach to counselling is to be natural - in therapy, we are allowed to cry, laugh, discuss as and when appropriate - it's not all listening and nodding. I engage with my clients within professional boundaries for the time they are with me. As I have grown as a counsellor so have my experiences within the therapy room. I find I can engage in different ways depending on who is sat in front of me. Alongside clients own life experiences I have found working with neuro-diversity and learning more about its effects has led me to finding a passion to help those who have a need to navigate their way through diagnosed or undiagnosed neuro- diversity. From my own experiences I also have a greater understanding of the menopause from not only the womens experience but also how it can affect the partners of those going through the menopause.
With Horizon Therapy, I offer appointments via in person practice and online delivery (telephone and video call) helping with relationship problems, depression, anxiety, bereavement, addiction and any other issues causing stress or sadness. I'm trained as a pluralistic counsellor which means I can combine various modalities of counselling although, helping the client to achieve what they need out of the counselling work.
I am fully qualified and insured to conduct both individual and couples counselling sessions for a range of issues. I am also a member of the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society. For more information, please contact me.
